Odds and Ends for November, 2013

The storm last weekend in Hua Hin was certainly an oddity, flooding parts of Hua Hin, Cha Am, and Pranburi, and roads in between. Trees were down in many areas and power, internet, and water were off for several hours and many schools closed. Cell coverage was intermittent and totally out in some cases. Most is pretty much back to normal now though as streets are cleared of trees and most water. More rain is forecast for this weekend though it shouldn’t be anything like last week, and this should pretty much be the end of the rains until next year. Continue reading

Christmas and New Years in Hua Hin

I see that some folks are already planning for Christmas and New Years in Hua Hin and are looking for places to celebrate.

Almost all the larger hotels and resorts put on Gala Dinners and shows for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and a brunch for New Year’s Day.

Some of these are quite entertaining with music, shows, dancing and fireworks displays. They can also be on the expensive side with many places charging several thousand Baht per head. Continue reading

Kiteboarding World Cup Hua Hin March 11 – 20 2010

There will be two events:

The first event will be the PKRA Thailand competition March 11-14. The top 2 male and top 2 female finishers will automatically be entered in the main event of the PKRA International freestyle competition! This event will be run by the PKRA international judges and a PKRA contest director which means the highest quality of judging. Continue reading
